After creating the paper prototype and updating the scenario, we have started preparing the user testing.
The user testing process:
1. The pretesting:
- We found 5 participants in the right age group or close to it,
in order to get a relatively accurate feedback.
- We asked for consent of their parents\guardians to film the test.
- We have prepared in advance 4 questions and answers.
2. The preparation (of the participants):
- We started by presenting our product.
- Explaining the general target, and assure them they are not the one
being tested.
- Explaining the "think aloud" technique.
- Describing the scenario, in order to give a general context:
"Imagine that you are in a preschool around
11 AM. You are playing with your friends and
than the teacher stating the study groups.
The teacher chooses you to play with a new
literacy card-based game. Now, you are
going to play with the new game." .
- We let them start the test process, individually.
3. The post-testing:
- We asked the participants follow up questions, which were a mix of
pre prepared questions and our observations.
- The watched the videos we took
- We analyzed the data
4. The finding & solutions:
- We divided the finding to 3 variables : Size, Shape, Material.
- We discussed the findings and possible solutions
- We have created a slide for our results.
At the same time we started a short survey to experts in the field of education for the young age mainly pre-school teachers (our main persona), overall the general feedback was really good. One of the main focus points is to focus more on age 5 rather than 4-5.
Later in the week, we started preparing for next week mid-year presentation in front of the unknown mentors.
Stay tuned,
