This week was really unique because we met in person as a group for the first time at the IDC's miLAB. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, we have done everything up to this point remotely. We felt very grateful for this opportunity, since the bonds we started forging are essential for the future.

Up to this point, we focused on the need, defined it, and perfected it. This week's class we’ve used three new methodologies for product creation.

The first one is "Ideation":

Ideation is meant to explore a wide variety of possible solutions through generating a large quantity of diverse possible solutions using no judgment.

Our focus was "How might we help kindergarten teachers identify low phonological awareness in kids?"

All solutions were divided into 3 categories on a board:

(1) Practical Solutions

(2) Non-Practical Solutions

(3) Surprising Solutions.

The second methodology is called “Copy From the Best".

Its main goal is to investigate the main causes that make a good product, to what it is.

In this exercise, we’ve considered these following 5 products: IROBOT, Shazam app, microwave, Alexa Amazon, Nintendo Wii.

An example - IROBOT

The third methodology that we have used is the “Expert Assistant”, that is based on creating the perfect assistant to solve one of the needs.

We have decided that our expert will be the assistant of a kindergarten teacher named Michal. Michal's assistant will use different techniques in order to help identify difficulties in children's phonological awareness.

These exercises started our wheels turning, and we have explored a wide range of ideas for the future.

Stay tuned,

Or Groer, Or Sade, Tal Danai, Dorin Gilad and Noam Avner.
